Royal Signals Boy Soldiers arrived at Denbury Camp Newton Abbot South Devon on 19th September 1955 when 6 (Boys) Training Regiment was moved from Beverley and Brayton in Yorkshire
April 1957 the unit was renamed the Junior Leaders Regiment Royal Signals
December 1959 the Regiment was reorganised into two squadrons of five troops with each troop being affiliated to a regular Royal Signals Regiment after recruit training the Junior Leader remained with the same troop until output previously the Regiment consisted of junior and senior troops
Recruiting increased and April 1963 a new squadron and two new troops were formed now the Regiment consisted of three squadrons of four troops in each |

1965 there was a change of policy and fewer numbers were recruited to Denbury and on the 8th September one troop per squadron was disbanded Romulus - Kohima - Francisca
April 1966 Alexander Squadron and Jerboa Troop was disbanded the Regiment was now down to two squadrons each with four troops
Jan 1967 all named troops were disbanded and became 1-7 Troops depending on age with 7 being the next output troop
The disbandment parade was held on 10th August 1967 when the Junior Leaders who did not graduated into man service moved to the Army Apprentice College Harrogate to complete their boy service training those selected for Technician and Telegraph Operator training had moved to Harrogate earlier in 1967 |
